BACK CARE
•Back care means cleaning and massaging back, paying special attention to pressure points.
•To prevent pressure sore
•To stimulate blood circulation
Back care refers to a set of practices and precautions aimed at maintaining and promoting the health and well-being of the back, particularly the spine and associated muscles, by preventing injury, managing discomfort or pain, and fostering good posture.
EQUIPMENTS
A tray containing of
•A basin of warm water
•Sponge cloths
•Soap and towel
•Surgical spirit
•Body oil or powder
•Macintosh and towel
•Kidney tray
PROCEDURE
a. Explain the procedure
b. Give proper position and provide privacy
c. Arrange the articles at bed side
d. Wash hands thoroughly
e. Expose the required part
f. Wash the back thoroughly from cervical spine to coccyx.
g. Apply soap in the same manner
h. Pour some spirit into the hand apply it in circular motion
i. Wash off the soap and dry with towel
j. Apply oil or powder and massage the back
k. Provide comfortable position
